The Senior Lecturer is responsible for on-going scholarship, teaching, curriculum development, and related academic administration on the MA Curating and Collections course at Chelsea College of Arts. The MA Curating and Collections course hosts a large, international and diverse student cohort to participate in a practical curriculum focused on live learning and industry partnerships.
You are a recognised authority in the contemporary curating subject area; as evidenced through a track record of professional practice at international level, with specific expertise in:
Exhibition and event production and realisation, or public arts commissioning
Display considerations and exhibition technology
Working with public and/or private collections
Knowledge of contemporary cultural and curatorial contexts from non-European regions
You will develop professionally-purposed pedagogy and enhance the MACC curriculum in innovative directions, drawing on their experience and networks to prepare students for ambitious graduate futures within culture sectors in the UK and globally, with special attention to ethical curatorial approaches.
Your established practice in the contemporary culture sector at international level will demonstrate your expertise in your specialist area. You will have a recognised track record of innovative practice in the specific areas of (but not limited to): Event production, exhibition making, or other physically manifest curatorial practice; working with public and/or private collections; contemporary cultural and curatorial contexts from non-European regions.
You will have a proven track record of teaching in the HE sector, and experience of working with substantial and culturally diverse cohorts. You will have a dynamic and engaging approach to working with others that promotes inclusivity, initiative, and professionalism. You will have an astute understanding of a broad range of international graduate destinations.
You will be well-organised, inspirational, have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and be a confident and engaging public speaker. You will have excellent professional networks within the UK and internationally that you can draw upon as needed. Your proven experience of complex project and schedule management, working within a team, and supporting the needs of others, individually and in groups, is essential.
