We've been described as “the most inspiring gallery in the UK” (Guardian). We’re here to offer international art, for everyone, for free. Our exhibitions, events, learning programmes and research offer extraordinary perspectives on today’s society, hosting and stimulating important discussions. Since opening in 2009, we have welcomed two million people and presented more than 50 exhibitions of international art. Each year around 23,000 people take part in learning activities with us – all for free. Designed by Caruso St. John Architects, our RIBA Award-winning building is one of the largest contemporary art centres in the UK. We are part of the city’s vibrant culture, and are connected with its heritage – lace is imprinted into our building’s concrete facade. We invite people from the city, the region, the country and the world to visit, discuss, debate, and experience the most exciting contemporary culture. We are a registered artistic and educational charity, and are very grateful to all of our funders and supporters. Our principal funders are Arts Council England and Nottingham City Council, and our public programmes and research is developed in partnership with Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.
