80 at 80: Scan the Stars

This commissioned mural was placed at the three campuses of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) to commemorate 80 years of the school. It uses Augmented Reality to add a new dimension to a conventional mural. The address 80 Bencoolen Street is the official address, and so the name 80 at 80. The project showcased the duality of NAFA’s identity- the traditional and the modern, the East and the West, the obvious and the hidden. Using graphics, motion and technology to tell a story. What defines a school? The structure, the curriculum, its people, its philosophy. Let’s look to these grounding factors (literally)! The number ‘80’ is made up of three circles which can be seen as mandalas representing the cosmos. Scan all the stars in this NAFA galaxy!
