To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re putting the spotlight on some of the most inspiring women in the creative industries on The Dots.

Next up, Gemma O’Brien, Artist and Typographer specialising in hand-lettering, illustration and typography. She honed her craft studying at College of Fine Arts.
What does it mean to you to be female and in the creative industries?

It’s amazing to be anyone making a living in the creative industries. I feel lucky and grateful to spend my days looking for inspiration, drawing and creating, and being able to share my process with the world.

Do you have words of wisdom for other women looking to break into the industry?

Spend your energy creating the work you want to create. Put in the hours, lose sleep and skip parties to hone your craft and create good work.

Patti Smith, Jenny Holzer, Amy Poehler.
