Ambigrams

The topic of interest for my Final Major Project during 3rd Year was to create a brief that combined my love for Typography and Illustration. From that I found Ambigrams!

Ambigrams are words that you flip upside down and read the same way. Eg: 'water' when flipped would still read 'water' backwards instead of 'retaw'

I chose to take this method of typography and apply them to Tarot Cards where the Ambigrams themselves would represent the meaning of that card. Some cards have one meaning and others have 2 meanings in one word.

?In total, for my degree show. I created a deck of Tarot Cards (22 cards in total with different designs and meanings) / a bespoke leather book with custom design, embossing and foiling with a collection of Ambigrams I hand created. The book can be read upside down / a series of postcards / 4 A1 printed and framed posters and a hand crafted wooden chest with engravings and velvet lining.

This Project was also chosen to be exhibited at D&AD New Blood!
