Apophenia - electronic devices bring us what?

  • Yi Li
In 2002, William Gibson defined apophenia in his book: Pattern Recognition as, “the spontaneous perception of connections and meaningfulness in unrelated things”. Apophenia is a kind of illusion. I choose electronic devices as object to express how people live in this society, especially in big data background.
Here are 3 terms in this project.
In the first term, I made a zine. I use Mathematic Models mix with human faces to express people, like us, live in a world , which is full of data and information.
(digital printing, screen printing, foil/ flock)

The second term is making gifs to show people's illusion to image we are monitored by electronic devices.
(photoshop, illustrator, after effects)

The third term is, we need to break this pattern and get out of control from phones, laptop, etc.
