ART CARTS

As part of Hampshire Cultural Trust’s ‘More & Better’ programme, MAKE:DO was commissioned to run a series of creative workshops with young people at Woodlands Education Centre. Over five weeks students designed and built carts that not only moved, but could also produce a large-scale work of art in the style of a famous artist as they moved! Investigating and analysing a range of artists and their work - Jackson Pollock, Kate Gibb, Mark Rothko and Maya Hayuk - we explored the key features, colours, shapes, styles and techniques that make their art so iconic. From here, the students were on a mission to create their very own ‘art cart’ – a unique invention that paid homage to the artist and allowed them to make our very own interpretation of the artists work.
