Found in Stokes Croft, Bristol, The Carriageworks has the ambition to house a space in which both professional and first time artists are invited in to produce pieces of work that are based on different political topics. These political topics will vary from month to month, and offers the local community a chance to express their freedom of speech through an art language that can be interpreted by all.

Running parallel with this, The Carriageworks will look to form a collaboration between the People's Republic of Stokes Croft and Freedom Press, and reincarnate the anarchist newspaper publication back to its original days.

Finally, both a temporary and permanent exhibition space will be designed for The Carriageworks. The permanent exhibition space will house a collection of comic books previously exhibited at the British Library, London. The collection, 'Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK', delves into the history of the comic, and more importantly highlights how British comics, over the years, have 'become a medium for exploring political and social issues, from violence and drugs to class and sexuality.'
