Hong Kong-listed Asia Pioneer Entertainment (APE) Holdings, whose core business includes distribution, sales and services of casino slot machines and electronic table games, said in a press release on Friday that it had placed its products at the Hoana casino resort in Vietnam.

Suncity Group Holdings, a company controlled by Macau junket boss Alvin Chow Chuck Wah and an indirect 34 percent investor in Hoiana, said "previews" of casinos and other parts of the resort will begin last Sunday (June 28). Investors plan to fully open next year.

Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings said it has installed game floor products locally, including "Dragon's Victory," a linked jackpot progressive play-style slot product from Konami Australia's Pty Ltd, in an eight-seater configuration of the "Karma GEN2" roulette from Slovenian manufacturer Spintec d.o.

He added: "We are very excited to be part of this iconic project to showcase our products to athletes around the world. It is a strategic step for APE to expand our footprint in Vietnam."

On Thursday, Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings said it plans to launch a "sports and sports-related entertainment business" to tackle challenges posed by COVID-19.

Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings Ltd. had warned in April that the COVID-19 pandemic would have a "significant adverse impact" on the group's financial performance. "In view of increasing health awareness and increasing demand for sporting events in Macau, directors are of the view that the launch of a new business will be a good opportunity to diversify the group's sources of income and can improve the group's financial performance," it said in a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Thursday.

In late May, the group said it had terminated its financial lease, claiming it had not paid rent with two companies linked to the Philippines and Cambodia. The group said it expected to write off a total of about HK$26 million in financial lease bonds in the six months to June 30.
