Avoid Costly HIRING MISTAKES

Hiring the right people has never been more crucial, especially as companies revise budgets in a current economic climate. It's pivotal to put in place an end-to-end process to avoid costly #hiring mistakes:

  • Ensure that recruiters have clarified expectations before hire (a good recruiter will ask difficult questions to have a complete grasp of the actual work the person will be doing). If the recruiter doesn't question the job's requirements, they are not your true strategic partner
  • Don't reject candidates based on the salary - the strongest candidates are willing to negotiate a package if the job offers a real upward career move
  • Avoid falling into the trap of hiring to fill a job quickly. Don't engage 5 different recruiters in your niche market to compete on speed trying to fill the same position; why should they give you 100% of their resources for 20% of chances of being successful?
  • Don't use generic competency-based interview questions without the context of the job in your business
  • Do not base your hiring process purely on AI or you will miss the best talent who might not be actively job-searching
  • Hire for diversity in diverse ways to expand the talent pool. Culture fit is important, but culture add might be more beneficial
