BA final major project

  • Tanjina Begum

A story inspired by her father migrating to the UK from Bangladesh and having to adapt into new atmospheres which, over time became a place more home to him as two cultures combined into one. Investigating the elements of his identity, traditions and heritage that weaved into his new life as the British lifestyle allowed him to embrace his cultural habits and values into a place, he now calls home. Brick Lane. A street in the East End of London, often referred to as the heart of the Bangladeshi community also known as Banglatown. An area truly developed by immigrants who evolved it into what it is today a place rich with both British and Bangladeshi history. For the design work Tanjina takes inspirations from photographed buildings of her father's hometown, brick lane, rikshaws, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs to capture the essence of both cultures.
