Botanical Bubbles

  • Pip Rowson

Event production with House of Cultural Curiosity CIC for the British Science Festival. As co-director of House of Cultural Curiosity CIC, I collaboratively produced the project 'Botanical Bubbles'. We set out to see if it was possible to make shampoo from foraged ingredients found around the garden estates of Moulsecoomb and Bevendean, Brighton. We joined forces with a scientist from the University of Brighton, a local forager, a recycling expert, an artist and an aromatherapist to find out and share our learning at an event at The Bevy Community Kitchen as part of the British Science Festival 2017. Through the event and workshops with a local school, we reached over 100 children and adults including three-quarters of event participants who do not normally engage with science activity. House of Cultural Curiosity seeks to democratise knowledge by bringing people together to explore all sorts of things with fresh eyes through collaboratively produced creative projects.
