What originally interested me about the royal marine cadets is the idea of 13-18 year olds entering into a seemingly strict and disciplined environment willingly. With a lot of bad press revolving around the youth of today and having interacted with many young people who have dreams but no self-belief to pursue them, I wondered what the Royal Marine cadets might have to offer.
The cadets have a true dedication to helping each other and their community through what they do. As much as the activities are mainly military based, the skills they learn are not solely intended to produce young soldiers but, instead, confident young adults. Leaving the cadets with the ability to achieve personal goals in the different walks of life they choose to follow.
