Co-Lab: A Physical Model for Social Progression

  • Christina Domini

In my final year project at UAL, I explored the idea of envisioning a physical space where inter-discipline collaboration could flourish. Working on an ideology for social progression and tapping into basic architectural principles – I developed a digital 3D model of this hypothetical space. Following several prototyping stages, I settled on a consistent visual identity – Co-Lab, which merged visual aspects of many sci-fi books and movies I encountered. Finally, to illustrate the final outcome, I designed a magazine introducing the space and it’s principles to the public. – Co-lab is a physical space where to find complex information, interact with others, explore solutions to societal problems and take time to reflect, aiming to be a catalyst for stimulating the involvement of industry and technology in the arts, by forging effective collaborations between people from a spectrum of disciplines, such as engineering, design, programming, and many others. – 18 pages.
