Community Project with Shelter

This project is about being sustainable within fashion by upcycling pre-existing products that are either damaged or unfit for resale at charity shops. We partnered with the Shelter Charity Shop located in Crystal Palace, where we were given the opportunity to take some of their dead stock, and upcycle them into new, wearable garments that can then be sold to raise money for the charity. My group decided to create a 'y2k' inspired outfit. I upcycled 6 ties into a wearable tube top that can be altered depending on your body type (the ties are adjustable at the back so it can be worn by any size). Other members of my group upcycled the waistbands from jeans into a mini skirt, and used the scrap pieces of denim to create patchwork designs onto some old boots.
