Darkinjung Barker Visual Identity

  • Jono Mifsud
I created the visual identity for Darkinjung Barker which is an Aboriginal campus which Barker College opened in 2016 with the support of the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council. The school caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The visual identity is based on the Aboriginal symbolism for a meeting place, something which the campus is designed to be. The red and gold come from Barker’s corporate colours, but are muted and earthy. The typeface selected is loose and made with a brush to give it more of a human touch. I used parts of the typography on the back of the business card and envelope design. The latter forms can create some really interesting shapes when you scale them up and move them around. As part of the visual identity I created business cards for the teachers, a letterhead, awards for the students and a website.
