Dave was born and raised in Abergavenny, South Wales but moved hurriedly to London when he heard the streets were paved. Described by his university lecturer as “occupying his own unique cultural space”, he started doing illustrated stand-up performances at various dives across the city whilst at Wimbledon School of Art. A couple of years through Soho’s Animation companies, Dave then graduated with distinction with a Masters from Central St Martins.
Since then an independent professional, he has worked with many of the world’s largest and most respected advertising agencies and production companies, even collecting one or two awards along the way. He was a member of a 2011 Gold-winning team at the British Television Advertising Awards and won Best Animation at the Pokes in 2012. He’s also picked up an Arts Council of Wales Travel Scholarship.
A member of the famous Scrawl Collective, Dave has been part of exhibitions in equally far-flung places, including Philadelphia, Miami, Glasgow and and many in both London and Berlin. A video at London’s Design Museum in 2011 and the opening show at Liberty’s Paper Room were highlights and he’s always looking to exhibit his ideas in evermore exciting new locations.
