De-code issue 5: ‘Experimental’ just dropped on Patreon

  • Sarah Hyndman

Each month I do a deep-dive into a current type trend to explore where it comes from and why it’s back again today. Sign up to the De-code level to receive this monthly online zine www.patreon.com/SarahHyndman

As the technology revolution continues there’s a new wave of typographic experimentation.

New technology is changing the old rules of typography. fonts are moving, responding, stretching & changing. Mix & match styles are celebrating an eclectic range of letterforms inspired by print, handwriting, analogue gadgets, bitmapped screens & curiosity.

Today’s typography reflects the broader cultural questions being asked about ‘future’.

The old rules are being broken.

The experiments have begun.
