Opening this autumn 2020, at the heart of Greenwich Peninsula, a permanent, purpose-built workspace for London’s creative industries is taking shape. The Design District will support the capital’s leading makers and thinkers. Today, the creative industries are thriving. They contribute around £100 billion to the UK each year, employ more than two million people, and are growing at twice the rate of the economy as a whole. The Design District was conceived to support this thriving sector, and sets out to conserve and enhance the tradition of innovation and making that has been central to London’s identity for centuries. Eight leading architects have been invited to design a collection of 16 buildings, which will support a vibrant community of start-ups, fledgling studios and ambitious international creative businesses with dedicated spaces for work, play and cultural activity. The architects were briefed to develop their proposals independently to enable each studio to contribute to the creation of a vibrant and eclectic landscape that reflects the diversity and dynamism of London’s ever-changing creative scene. WHAT WE DO FOR DESIGN DISTRICT As a long-standing champion of London’s creative sector, Zetteler is thrilled to be part of such an ambitious project to support it. We’re developing and implementing a media strategy to launch the Design District this year. Watch this space for all the latest. If you're curious about the workspace, studio and workshop opportunities that exist at Design District, do email and the team will happily talk you through the spaces available.
