EE SUPER USER

In order to highlight the results of their “Super user” training program, EE requested an explainer video to showcase the numbers. The project was conducted by the regional manager of London, and the look of the video had to match the EE visual guidelines.
I worked with a script provided by the regional manager, I created the storyboard with him and went on production when the storyboard was green lighted.
The main challenge was to come up with an engaging way to present a large amount of numbers without being too repetitive or to conway too much information in a limited amount of time. So at an early stage of the developpement we decided to divide the video into small sections and show them in the form of milestones.
The regional manager also wanted to show the super users shot in differents store across the UK. In order to not break the consistency of the explainer video, I suggested to show them in the intro and the outro of the video. After longs discussions about the super user program we came up with the idea of the casino token which is a strong symbol of their yearly gathering.
The casino token was designed and animated in Cinema 4D and finally became the guiding light of the whole video.
Another big challenge was the timeframe, we had 3 weeks to produce and deliver the video. So a large amount of design had to be done before going into animation, we opted for flat designs with the strong yellow and darker variations to give a depth and volume to the designs.
All the shots were done in Photoshop, splitted into differents layers then imported in After Effect for the animation. The development and the early discussions we had about restraining the informations to provide the essentials really helped us to shape a concise and enjoyable that was delivered on time. The video was a huge success within the EE super users and spread across the UK staff.
Working on that project made me realize the importance of the preparation that goes into making a video. The initial script had too much informations, I believe that the process of cutting down information to keep the important ones really help to produce an engaging and entertaining video.
