Embodied

People with visible physical defects stand out from the crowd. Passengers will observe them because they are fascinated by their different appearance. But you don’t want to stare because you don’t want to cause an awkward situation. Deviate from the norm plays an important role in this particular matter. This concerns the interaction between beauty and ugliness, recognition and alienation in specific. That’s what captivates me.

The developed materials for this collection have got an organic feeling. They imply defects of natural cause. Recognizable features of a shoe like heel and toe remain clearly visible. Combining those elements with the newly obtained structures provides tension and confusion. As I designer I want to create a new identity that suggests a alternative beauty. I want to make people think about beauty and her abnormalities.
