As part of my first year runway at London Metropolitan University, I created a fully Red piece inspired by resigning gender roles and the struggles women face on a day to day basis. With hands tied and heavy weights, every aspect of this piece means something - seen bluntly in the pins and badges I collected and made myself. As my specialism is sustainability, this piece was made entirely from found materials; including bed sheets, table clothes and more to put an emphasis on my true passion that everything you need can be found. Modelled by the incredible Alice (they/them), as a gender queer and lesbian woman it is vital to collaborate with likeminded people within my work and showcase a variety of identities. This project stemmed over the course of 3 months, painstakingly researching down to every thread, sourcing materials from charity shops all around the UK and finalising the end result With inspirations such as Thom Browne and Vivienne Westwood, I urge people to think further than the aesthetic value of clothes. Everything is and should be political and it is our duty as creatives to push boundaries and express new ideals. I don't create clothes. I create art. Lily B She/They
