Fear and the British Media: Archived footage project

  • Betty Ogun

From the perspective of passive reception, the British media use data and statistics to overwhelm their viewers, particularly the BBC. The current conservative government's response depicted by the British media is symbolised here by using the figurehead Thatcher, and the fear illustrated through Jodie Foster in 'Silence of the Lambs'. The rest of the media used including Thatcher is all British, and from a previous pandemic which caused much division and fear in the 1980s.
