My final year project focuses on the global issue of ocean pollution. The ocean is the lifeblood of planet Earth and we have been contaminating it for decades without much thought. The ocean is a delicate eco system and one we could not survive without. I am concentrating my project onto three types of ocean pollution and intend to create a collection of sculptural forms for each pollutant. My aim is for these forms to inform and educate viewers, raising awareness on the subject of ocean pollution. I am inspired by the ocean and water it is such a crucial part of our ecosystem. It is imperative that we protect and maintain the health of our oceans for the future generations to come. Another main influence behind my project is glass. Glass is a truly fascinating material to work with. Glass when heated becomes a fluid in a liquid state and can be manipulated. I want to celebrate this remarkable material and our oceans by combining these two inspirations together.
