Frequencies: Meet the Selectors
Fascinated by Simon Sinek's concept of 'Start With Why' the last 3 years since I quit my (what is to many graduates; a dream) job I have been on a journey to find my why. Summer 2021- I was able to put my 'why' into practice when my great friend Joel Claude got me involved in a project which is to date a milestone in my career as a Cultural Tastemaker and Content Producer. The brief was to produce a series of six films and associated social media content for arts organisation Artangel in Oscar Murillo's Frequencies exhibition (interviewing different selectors from 2018's Worlds best teacher, a Computing Artist to a Psychotherapist) - on another more intimate layer, the brief was to work collaboratively with a number of inexperienced 6th form students (aged 15-18) to help train and provide a 'paid' work experience of what it's like to work on a film set. The budget and timeline were both tight, however, Joel and I came up with efficient creative solutions and strategies where we put ourselves in the student's shoes, conducted workshops teaching them the basic logistics of production and how to use filming equipment in a fun and engaging manner; partnering with Joel's mentors and previous work partners.
