Grief Is A Thing With Feathers

  • Bella Schilling

Concept A novella about a husband and his sons mourning the sudden loss of his wife / their mother. Strategy The Crow appears to the family to help them through the stages of grief after its feathers are found on the boys’ pillows. I designed a cover that looked tangible because grief is a personal experience. The decision to show part of Crow’s body was because just feathers were shown to begin with. The calligraphic title emulates feathers with elongated ascenders and descenders.
