Hazardous Elements

  • Laura Dixon

Fire, electricity and water. These are the three hazardous elements that are used to develop this project, and they have been organised in three separate groups. Each group includes a colour scheme, each having one of the primary colours: red, yellow and blue, along with their different shades. However, one colour scheme is more complex than the others, as it includes complementary colours, as well as contrasting ones. Visual primary research includes many different safety signs, text and pavement covers, along with some architecture and a few blind bag toys. As for visual secondary research, many artists are mostly used for colours and shape. However, one particular artist has been included to develop ideas for interior decorations. What has been used to develop this project are digitally drawn motifs and filtered rubbings. The final completed designs are digitally printed on interior fabrics by Contrado and are to be targeted for an older children’s audience.
