I Was Always Here

  • Leo Buckley

Was Always Here portrays the remarkable photographer Charlie Phillips. He is responsible for some of the most iconic photographs from the 60s and 70s, most notably the Windrush generation around Notting Hill and icons such as Muhammed Ali and Jimi Hendrix. However, his work was ignored for decades. This film delves into that and paints a portrait of the man in his twilight years as he yearns to return to nature and solidify his legacy. Premiered on Nowness and selected for LSFF 2023
