Interference

  • Sarah Fenner

Interference is an interactive installation. The composition of the work closely resembles the unique flight patterns of Starlings, known as murmurations. Using javascript, html and leap motion, these flight patterns have been artificially recreated; the birds move on their own accord in patterns which are never the same. Starlings have become endangered in the UK due to human interference. Interference invites audiences to consider their impact on extinction through their interaction; if a viewer is still, they are able to view the murmurations. If they interfere with the installation, the birds will depart. Green Trail Award Nomination 2019
