Introducing WWW.® DIGITAL STUDIO

  • Emilia Trafalgar

An Independent QBIPOC Led Digital Design Studio based in LDN, UK + working with clients worldwide. WWW.® has been an idea in the making since 2022 when I first realised that you could make a living designing websites + curating online presence for other people. The digital space has always empowered me so it's truly enriching to know I can further express this by helping others realise their creative visions online too.

The History: Back in 2012, I discovered Tumblr for the first time, as an introvert it was a digital playground where I could fully express myself & connect with like minds.
Hours were poured into curating Art, Photography and Streetweart, alongside mastering HTML coding as a self taught programmer. The hustle paid off a few years later when I amassed over 10K followers. Then Yahoo bought Tumblr and the whole site collapsed.
Trying to find a new way forward I shifted to Photography to pursue my visual passion and in 2021 I gained a 1st Class BA Hons and 2 awards. But since joining the career ladder I realised I couldn't find an avenue in Photography to realise my creative vision.
Fast forward to 2023, after interning & freelancing with various Agencies I've cracked the code: Crafting Websites, Content and Brand Identities for fellow online Creatives. A perfect synergy for a Digitally Empowered Human.
Mission:
The Mission at WWW.® is to help businesses to grow to their fullest potential. I will strive to provide eye-catching visuals and high quality design to my customers while creating an adaptable learning environment for the to understand the best formula to apply visual language to their business. I believe design is key in a progressively digital world. Every business with a good cause deserves a chance to make an impactufal impression, so I use a combination of strategy & creativity to bring life to my client's vision. Likewise, I approach pricing on a case by case basis. I will continue to innovate my methods through researching & learning new skills & tools as well as staying in the loop with industry-relevant programming languages too.
The Problem: After making the transition from photographer to multi-hyphenated creative, I found that it was becoming increasingly difficult to describe my career to others, making it nearly impossible to attract clients. My website domain, email, and portfolio all reflected that of a photographer/content creator, not a web + brand designer. After investing hours in my self-taught reeducation, I needed a professional way to articulate my job title and reach my dream clients. I needed my business to embody its digital roots without appearing immature or amateur.
The challenges I wanted to continue to be true to my creative expression while also coming across as professional. Likewise, I wanted to bring fun into the equation + stand out from other competitors in my local area while also showing that I had the same level of sophistication as them. Striking a balance between creativity, professionalism + approachability. Therefore, I established my main attributes:
  • Direct
  • Honest
  • Informative
  • Innovative

And the name WWW.® Digital Studio was born out of the origins of the brand.
Typography: I created a mixed typeface using Neutral Face, paired with Starmap 00 to add contextual depth to my website. Reinforcing the idea of the digital space, I also inserted Apple symbols within some of the text to create excitement and fun. Then, I used justified alignment to give order to the structure of my text to ensure it still came across as professional.
Target Audience: I niched down my target audience and portfolio to only be directed at the clients I truly enjoyed working with - creatives like myself. I still kept it relatively broad within the industry to avoid creating too much limitation. I wanted to put a focus on providing value to my audience to stay true to the "informative" attribute to my Brand so I have been creating content on multiple platforms around my creative process to help elevate other creatives to be able to do the same.

As a self taught designer, I think it's important not to gatekeep the information I found for free. I made a mistake studying Photography in University and now I will never be able to afford to study Graphic Design due to how Student Finance works, everything I have learned has been through hours of research online, sometimes until 4am. The satisfacition I felt when I finally cracked how to write a piece of code or make a poster come to life is something I want other people to feel when they interact with my brand. All the tutorials are really straight forward, in bitesized easy to digest chunks.
Website Design: In order to strike a balance between showing off my design and technical skills while also making the website clear, consistent, and inclusive, I used a minimalist approach to design. I added small features that could elevate the site and distinguish it from others while also making sure not to overwhelm or confuse the audience. For example, I added an SVG with keyframes hover effect over the “HOME” navigation item. I transformed the logo on the home page into a Lottie file and gave it scroll interactivity. Instead of using my website builder's pre-made slideshow, I created my own with specified timing so that I had the creative flexibility to show captions underneath, clearly explaining what each project was.
