Library of Things is a social enterprise based on three ideas. The first being that many people who live in urban centres have very little room for 'things' that they may not use all that often, for example; tents, carpet cleaner and strimmers. Secondly it exists to support local communities, individuals and institutions who may be struggling. Their third goal is to make borrowing better than buying, reducing consumer waste. We began working with Library of Things in 2016 when we were asked to create a whole brand identity from scratch. The visual system needed to be contemporary, friendly and adaptable across any number of spaces and communities once their enterprise began to grow to new locations. Our answer to potential growth was to create a flexible logo mark, which could stack or expand depending on positioning, as well as a suite of over seventy unique icons which could be utilised as practical information or as an interesting, dynamic pattern.
