The looped animation depicts the inner mindscape and the constant replay of certain memories. The concept revolves around trauma persisting in the brain and getting lost in thought replaying emotional memories on a self-inforcing loop. Memories are formed by neuronal activity, with specific networks of neurons coding for different experiences, like a birthday party. Emotional events are remembered more vividly and accurately due to the amygdala's interactions with the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, enhancing memory retention for these experiences. "In such people, an emotional cue could trigger recall of the event, which would then loop back to a re-experiencing of the emotion of the event," said Dolcos. "Or, remembering the event may trigger the emotional reaction associated with the event, which in turn could trigger more intense recall, in a continuous loop." -DURHAM, N.C. (March 8, 2005)
