Panera Bread — Digital Properties Refresh

Relaunching the digital ecosystem for an American fast-casual food outlet with 8m customers nation-wide.

This 8 month project relaunched Panera Bread's mobile app, in-store ordering kiosk, and responsive .com website. Panera relies on their digital ecosystem for more than a third of their revenue.
The team at Work & Co comprised of four designers and a partner, each taking ownership of distinct sections of the experience. We made a point of checking in often, ensuring a consistent execution from conceptual thinking through to a robust system of typography, grids, etc.

We created a design language, photography direction, and devised interactive principles that united the mobile app, the in-store kiosk, and the website.

Customizing the ingredients of items is a significant and complex part of Panera’s offering, affecting over half of all orders.

The most popular customizations for each item were made the most easy. A user's customizations were remembered, and suggested again on their repeat orders.
