Every year, Penguin Books hold a design competition to recreate a famous book cover and spread from a select three. In 2020, I set my aim high and redesigned the spread for Bill Bryson's brilliant book titled 'A Short History Of Nearly Everything'. I wanted my design to contain everything within our universe, in some shape or form. I decided this was best represented by showing a few identifiable symbols that could represent all these things. Within my spread, there are specs in the background, signifying stars (space), there is also an atom (matter) and finally an egg and sperm (life). I felt that by cleverly combining all these different elements together, I had successfully achieved what I had first set out to do.
