PitStop

  • Amy Steindl
PitStop is my forth year undergraduate design project and includes a website and rfid loyalty card system. Inspired by the idea that the city should not end at the front door of an office, it promotes and encourages healthy levels of movement for office workers during the working day. Office workers use their step count and time available to determine an independent café or park bench to walk to, collecting PitStop loyalty points in the process. Employers can choose to join the service and would reward their staff for being healthier while supporting and promoting local cafes. I hope that this inspires workplaces to create a culture that prioritises health and well-being.
The photos above illustrate how the rfid loyalty service works. Office employees are given a loyalty card when their employer signs up to the service and this can be used at any independent cafe that has signed up to PitStop. By using colour and shape, the rfid readers let the user and cafe staff know how close they are to receiving their free hot drink. Once the circle has been completed, the lights change colour and display a rainbow animation appears.
