Protect To Survive, explores the lesser considered effects of environmental deterioration as a result of climate change. Displacement of people from their homes and homelands, leading ongoing global refugee crisis hasn’t been linked to climate but strain resources have acted as catalysts of conflict.
Taking the items carried by displaced people, using them to inform viewers of factors that lead directly and indirectly to displacement, these objects were used to create a pop up intervention that was displayed on tidal beaches of the River Thames.
Using references from Protect to Survive, the public information film aired in the case of possible nuclear fallout, we face a new threat of climate change which is already influencing our lives in ways we often don’t realise.
