Psyche

Psyche is an illustration project I created as part of my Illustration and Visual Media degree. My art being heavily influenced by my interested and knowledge of psychology and the subconscious, this was a project I was and am particularly excited about. For years I have been toying with the idea of visualising the mind. What does one’s mind look like? Is it a physical place, a concept, a universe? What’s there? Exploring this concept, I interviewed 19 people on what they thought their mind looked like. Taking notes from the answers, I aimed to illustrate these images. I decided to turn these illustrations into a colouring book. As research suggests, colouring books can help with relaxation, anxiety reduction, as well as many other benefits in terms of mental health and the improvement of sleep. For this reason I decided to not only explore the minds of people but attempt at giving back to their minds in the form of a colouring book.
