Rolling Stone

  • Gail Anderson
For over 14 years, I worked with the illustrious and dear Fred Woodward at Rolling Stone, where I served as Designer, Deputy Art Director, and finally, Senior Art Director. I arrived in the fall of 1987 to work at an enormous drafting table with a Mayline and triangle, and left in the spring of 2002, near-sighted from spending so much time in front of a computer. Almost everything I know and love about typography and illustration is the result of those 14 years with Fred (and before him, Lynn Staley, Ronn Campisi, and Lucy Bartholomay at The Boston Globe).
