Australia plans Antarctica’s biggest infrastructure project: an airport and runway that would increase the human footprint in the world’s greatest wilderness by an estimated 40%. The mega-scheme is likely to involve blasting petrel rookeries, disturbing penguin colonies, and encasing a stretch of the wilderness in more than 115,000 tonnes of concrete. This campaign was inspired by an article from the Guardian newspaper from the 1st of January 2021 about wildlife being threatened as Antarctica. Therefore, IKEA decided to raise awareness of this environmental issue to save Antarctica and the animals who live over there. The campaign allows customers to view various animals from Antarctica through VR headsets in IKEA stores.
