Science Questions 2020. Part One.

  • Dan Bright

A selection of illustrations created in response to readers' questions, for BBC Science Focus Magazine.  1) Why do birds always fly under my car? 2) Am-Bee-Lance: Should you put honey on a burn? 3) Why do I always feel worse after a nap? 4) I'm addicted to orange juice, could I be damaging my health? 5) Would dinosaurs have eaten people if we'd existed at the same time?

This on-going project is really challenging and a lot of fun. I never know what stories I'm going to be asked to illustrate each month and, as I normally only have two weeks to do the whole project (up to five illustrations), quickly coming up with humorous, relevant concepts keeps me on my toes.

The answers.
1) Why do birds always fly under my car? Because birds see cars as a threat they fly out of hedgerows at their approach. 2) Am-Bee-Lance: Should you put honey on a burn? Yes you can. 3) Why do I always feel worse after a nap? There are any reasons. 4) I'm addicted to orange juice, could I be damaging my health? Yes, ye it will, if you drink too much. 5) Would dinosaurs have eaten people if we'd existed at the same time? Silly question, of course they would.
