Shadow Apples

  • Karen Mattiazzo

They had an illustration already, but wanted a revamp of it. It consists of an apple with a speech bubble with it's logo inside it. So what they asked for is 'give it a 1930's look to it' so I did.

1930's style with two variations of colouring, grain and coloured.

The illustrations needed to have these eyes that are very characteristic of 30's cartoons, the hands with gloves is also a must to be able to give the idea of old school, vintage Mickey Mouse. The legs though are drawn like this because of the tree, then I just added a touch of surreal, a hand streching out of a hole in the ground that seems like there's water under. The hand holds the apple while it speaks the name of the brand. Weird and cute I guess.
Some close ups of the illustration and how the logo looks without the speech bubble. Here you see the full design then elements taken from it to make pocket prints.
