Growing up in a Sicilian household meant that every meal was a celebration of culture. When I started my career in food photography, I knew that I wanted to honour my Sicilian heritage by showcasing the beauty of our traditional dishes. I spent time researching and experimenting with different lighting and angles until I found the perfect way to capture the essence of each dish. In this particular project, I found inspiration in the strong island dessert tradition. Cannoli, Almond cookies, Cassata, Granita: Each photo is a tribute to the generations of Sicilian cooks who have passed down their recipes. With the incredible food stylist @jessietofts, we created a series of images evoking cultural rituals that hope to inspire others to discover the rich flavours and culture of Sicilian cuisine. Because to me, food isn't just about sustenance - it's a way to connect with our past and preserve our heritage for future generations.
