Simple Misunderstanding is an art installation that I created after winning the Mead Fellowship in 2016.
My installation allows people to experience what it is like to be deaf, the impact it has and some of the barriers faced by people often caused by attitudes and assumptions. One of the aims is to challenge stereotypes around hearing loss.
Through this experience, I hope to provoke thinking about deafness and generate an increased awareness of how deafness has an impact in day to day life.
The installation was shown at BST Hyde Park, Latitude, Secret Garden Party and End of the Road in 2017.
