Stanford Cardiovascular Institute

  • Aleksander Lenart
"Stanford Cardiovascular Institute is the nucleus for cardiovascular research at Stanford University, California. Formed in 2004, the Cardiovascular Institute is home to Stanford’s myriad cardiovascular-related adult and pediatric research, clinical, and educational programs, centers and laboratories, as well as over 500 Stanford basic scientists, graduate students, clinician scientists, and other researchers in heart and vessel disease and prevention." — Stanford CVI.

The Institute asked for identity that would present the organisation as more than the sum of its parts – research, education and care. The mark is a heart-shaped infinite ribbon referring to the CVI’s limitless flow of novel ideas and top talent. The familiar heart shape helps instantly recognise the Institute’s mission and details of the design make the logo unique and ownable. Finally, the symbol has been designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for applications in every medium, from print, to signage, to clothing.

Winning entry in the Institute's 2013 Design Competition.
