Swiss Design Booklet

  • Amy Knowlton
I have created a booklet inspired by the prominent design movement 'Swiss Design' established in the 40's & 50's in Switzerland as a campaign to encapsulate the modernist theory 'form follows function'. Seeking to highlight simplicity and the theory that designers are communicators, Swiss design emphasised the importance of order and clarity in order to get the message across. Based around an essay I wrote on the subject, this booklet aims to incorporate the influential figures and design elements that make up this typographical movement. I have used the font 'helvetica' due to the importance of sans-serif typefaces at this time, as well as cut out shapes and a simple colour scheme - to create hierarchy and a strong design style.
