THE CURE - Operating theatre Project

  • ZIH-RONG LU
The museum has numerous surgery instruments from the 19th century, those recorded the progress of medical history. The animation was inspired by nursery instruments and attempted to represent the space not only for illness but birth. There was also place where midwives working and new babies were born . The beginning of medical development suffers much from people's suspicions due to the high death rate. Only people who were considered almost dying would be sent to the surgery theatre. Thus people think operating theatre is a scary place to come. For the purpose to encourage young people to walk in the museum, I use this idea introduce a place once full of death and blood in a friendly way.
The characters are not in a realistic scale that the giant doctor represents his power and dominant control of patient's life. On the contrary, the tiny figures show the vulnerable status and helpless of patients.
Ending with a new life born presents a new start which this place could provide to people visiting here.
