The Ideographic Memory Kit

The Ideographic Memory Kit by Brandon Mattless
This publication was designed with the idea of how stories are no longer being shared but becoming more ideographic. By abbreviating a memory, story or experience, it could be said that the original meaning abbreviates too, changing the context as a whole.
Inspired by Walter Benjamin in ‘The Storyteller’ (1936), this limited edition kit enables the user to engage with pieces of preconceived memory and allows them to create what is first expected before creating new, interesting forms - possibly from memory or created from scratch.
This piece was exhibited as part of a collaborative exhibition. Calling ourselves 'Construō' we displayed our publications that each represented architectural elements in some way and ran an interactive workshop along side the display.
