The Last Supper or 'TLS' for short, is an experimental production project, driven by providing space for open debate and discussion relating to socio-political and economical subjects. The topic was pre-selected along with the disciples, in order for an informative brief to be provided to members of the table regarding the future discussion. The brief provided disciples with probes, questions and resources for the production along with a description of their role in the production itself, this allowed crew and talent to understand the aim of the production ahead of filming. The subject chosen was 'CTRL + ESC', exploring our existence in the age of the internet through themes such as FOMO, obsession, consumption and escapism. Whilst conceptualising and creating the concept, I began designing the projects visual identity. I wanted the project to have a disintegrating feel and look to it, emphasising the projects title in relation to it's traditional history. This visual identity would then carry over into the production itself with branded name markers, napkins and titles/text in post production. Whilst designing and conceptualising the production, I had to organise a crew and cast. This included finding 8 members of voluntary crew: 2 DOP'S, 2 boom operators, a BTS photographer, a sound engineer, an assistant director and producer. I then conducted research casting talent, the aim was to have a diverse selection of people to make the space inclusive and keep the discussion open to as many opinions/perspectives as possible. I then sent out a number of invitations explaining the project and encouraging involvement before selecting the final 12 members and providing them with the full brief. After completing the selection of cast and crew, I began finalising design aspects for the production itself. I designed a small staple bind booklet containing a brief introduction to each panel member, the catering menu, special thanks, notes for panel members and a few blank pages for thoughts during discussion. The design identity then followed through screen printed onto napkins, name cards etc. The production itself went smoothly, I made a clear call sheet to conduct the evening and pre-prepared catering for the meal. We filmed on the 16/02/2020, the night before the country went into it's first lockdown. This meant post production was a solo learning curve rather than a team of editors, although it was difficult I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and feel satisfied with the outcome considering the circumstances. Overall, this project allowed me to explore multiple creative and sparked my interest for creative direction and production.
