The People's Pavilion: Our First 80 Years

  • Laura Sayers

What did you do at the De La Warr Pavilion? This exhibition reflected on the everyday experiences of our visitors at the Pavilion during its first 80 years.

Drawing on the Bexhill Observer newspaper archive held at Bexhill Museum and material generously donated by the public through our ongoing Heritage Research Project, the De La Warr Pavilion put together a small selection of stories and contextualised them within an 80 year timeline.
From outdoor ice skating, cat picture shows and family events to lectures, art installations and stand up comedy, this exhibition showed how the activities at the Pavilion have responded to the social, cultural and technological changes that have transformed our lives.
