The Pervasive Media Cookbook is the outcome of research undertaken by collaborators DCRC, University of the West of England and the Pervasive Media Studio. It follows 12 pervasive projects that together they oversaw. In their own words "The Pervasive Media Cookbook is a mix of cutting edge practice and ideas… Designed to inform and inspire students and designers with an introduction to the emerging field of pervasive media in which context aware devices deliver 'the right media in the right place at the right time'."

Initially, I was approached by DCRC to produce an online resource with the concept of presenting the projects as case study recipes in a cookbook. I designed a strong visual identity for the cookbook inspired by mid-century modern interiors and trademark designs. The retro kitchen theme evolved with simple abstract illustrations, patterns and icons which translate complex academic and technological content into a palatable format. I rolled the identity out, styling the Wordpress website (with content development by Jess Linington) and other digital outcomes. Later I was invited back to design a print on demand book with Fran Hope, Co-director of Design& Co and freelance designer Suzie Eland.

Book specification: 8 x 8 inches. 106 pages, perfect bound.
